THURSDAY 11.30AM: A Melton band who have not played together for eight years have reformed for a special charity gig tomorrow (Friday night).
Loveburger disbanded when bassist Richard Hewson moved to Spain, but when he returned home last year they decided it was time for a reunion.
Guitarist Ray Calcutt said the band decided to get together to play a gig for Pablo's Horse Santuary at Long Clawson run by Carole Fielding.
He said: "I've done a lot of gigs to help Carole, in fact the last gig Loveburger did eight years ago was for the sanctuary."
Other band members are Paul Schamps, better known as Scampi (vocals), Ed Tkaczyk (keyboards) and Carole's son Matt Handley (drums).
All are busy with other projects locally so it has been difficult organise a reunion but Ray, who also plays with Breeze and The Grigglefish Project, said they were now hoping to carry on playing together.
On the night they will be playing a mixture of music. Ray said: "It will be mainly rock/pop – good time songs from the Seventies, Eighties and Nineties."
The event takes place at Melton Working Men's Club tomorrow at 8pm. Tickets are £5 on the door.
