Based upon Marvel's iconic super hero, Iron Man (12A) tells the story of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Junior), a billionaire industrialist, genius inventor and CEO of a major weapons manufacturer whose family motto is 'Peace means having a bigger stick'.

But when a trip to Afghanistan goes explosively wrong, he's
mortally wounded and captured by Talibanish baddies under the command of Raza (Tahir), who demands that he builds a devastating Jericho missile for use against American forces.
Instead, using his intelligence and ingenuity, Tony builds a
hi-tech suit of armour and hatches an escape plan, which also gives birth to his ironclad, wrong-righting alter ego… Iron Man.

Upon his return to America, Tony comes to terms with his past and when he uncovers a nefarious plot with his assistant Pepper Potts, ably portrayed by Gwyneth Paltow, he dons his powerful armour and vows to protect the world as Iron Man.

A great action-packed film.

MADE OF HONOUR (12A) is a gender-reversed revamp of the 1997 romantic comedy My Best Friend's Wedding, about a bed-hopping, commitment-shy 30-something who realises, almost too late, that he is in love with the only woman he hasn't slept with. Stars Patrick Dempsey. Rating: Three stars

NIM'S ISLAND (U)
Abigail Breslin, Oscar-nominated star of Little Miss Sunshine, outshines her co-stars Jodie Foster and action man Gerard Butler as a plucky tyke stranded on her tropical home while her father is lost at sea in this island adventure. Younger audiences will lap up Nim's gung-ho exploits. Rating: Three stars

SPEED RACER (PG) Set in a retro-futuristic world of high-speed motor sport, Speed Racer has souped-up thrills galore. It's a
high-octane turbo-charged film with Emilie Hirsch and co-stars Susan Sarandon, Christina Ricci, John Goodman and Matthew Fox. Rating: Three stars

DECEPTION (15) Every twist and turn in this erotic thriller is so clearly signposted that you would have to doze through the opening hour for the film to maintain the element of surprise. Ewan McGregor plays a drippy corporate auditor who is enticed into an underground world of no-strings sex. Rating: Two stars
