IT is eight years since Hickling held its first scarecrow festival and the event has quickly become the biggest annual social event in the village's calendar and a firm favourite with visitors.
The theme of this year's event on Sunday, which will benefit Prostate Cancer, Alzheimers and village charities, is famous books.

In addition there will be games, craft and market stalls, an art exhibition, street theatre and refreshments.

On Saturday evening there will an Elvis night and fancy dress competition (optional) with a hog roast and disco.
