A teenage boy who was murdered in his local shop had gone to celebrate his 16th birthday by buying his first Lottery ticket, his father said.
Jimmy Mizen, who celebrated his 16th birthday on Friday, was left with serious neck injuries after the dispute at the Three Cooks bakery in Lee, south east London around 11.50am on Saturday. He died at the scene.
His devastated father Barry Mizen,
56, told the Daily Mail: "He wanted to play the Lottery for the first time because he'd just turned 16. It was part of his birthday celebrations."
He described the attack on his son as "mindless violence, just pure aggression".
"A fellow picked up a glass dish and smashed it against the side of his neck. We're told he bled to death.
"My other son Harry was with him. He is so upset. He said the blood was pouring out of him, they just could not stop it."
Jimmy was one of nine children. He was a pupil at St Thomas More School, in Eltham, and played for Sidcup Rugby Club.
His mother Margaret Mizen, 55, said: "He was the loveliest, gentlest giant. He was loved by everyone, by his school, the church and his family."
Jimmy was an altar boy at Our Lady of Lourdes church, in Lee, where a memorial service attended by the family has been held.
Parish priest Father Edward Perera told the Daily Mail: "They are a lovely family, God-fearing and God-loving, and Jimmy was a lovely, helpful boy."
