CELEBRATIONS were held at a new convenience store in Melton when it opened its doors to the public on Saturday.

One Stop, part of the Tesco group, opened in Grange Drive, the former home of the Supamac Mini Market and Bargain Booze.

The store enjoyed a special opening ceremony with an appearance from Conk the Clown, who treated visitors to balloon modelling, pocket magic and juggling.

The ceremony was followed by a cheque presentation to Peter and Joan Smith, of Melton and Rutland Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The store has taken on 15 members of staff and will open from 6am until 11pm, seven days a week.

It will stock a range of food, drinks and newspapers.
