Green light for melton orchard

MELTON is set to gain a community orchard thanks to funding from nationwide regeneration campaign Transform Your Patch.

The orchard, which would be situated within Melton Country Park on the left of the Royal themed flowerbed, is the brainchild of environmental charity Groundwork Leicester and Leicestershire and the Friends of Melton Country Park.

It is not yet known how much funding has been allocated for the project however it is expected to provide in the region of 30 to 60 fruit trees.

Catherine Tregaskes of Groundwork said: “It will be a really great resource for the Melton community.”
