THURSDAY 10.50AM
An airport boss was so impressed by the air ambulance she has decided to do a daring stunt for the charity.
East Midlands' MD Penny Coates got swept up in the excitement of the angel of the sky's first flight and pledged to abseil down the 52.3m traffic control tower.

Penny, who lives locally, said: "It is a fabulous charity and I think it is criminal it doesn't get any support from any where else. I was challenged to do it by the Mayor of Oakham, Jim Harrison. I'm fairly nervous."

And she is not the only person to be strong armed into the stunt.
Airport press officer Amy Buckley, air ambulance regional fundraiser Barbara Parish and other workers at the centre including the air ambulance crew will all scale the 248 steps inside before throwing themselves off the top of the building with nothing but a harness for safety.

But to secure an interview with the daring team, intrepid reporter Ben Truslove will be joining in the fun. To sponsor Ben, or anyone else, call (01664) 412522.
