THURSDAY 11.15AM
David Johnson asked family and friends for donations instead of presents when he marked his 65th birthday at the Market Tavern.
And they repaid him in full by raising an amazing £420.

David, who farms at Great Dalby and has worked at the cattle market for 30 years, said: "It started off as a party with no presents, but when people said they wanted to bring some-thing we came up with the idea of supporting the air ambulance.

"It plays a vital role in a rural area such as ours and I'm chuffed to bits with the result. I'd like to thank Di and Sam Booth at the Market Tavern for the wonderful food."
