TUESDAY 9PM: It is the final count down to lift-off for our very own angel of the skies with less than two weeks to go.
On April 1, the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance will become fully operational and your funds helped that happen.

But we're still hoping for more and the chance of doubling our target of £10,000 is becoming a distinct possibili
ty.

Crash victim and air ambulance rescuee Joe Zbaraski has joined the campaign and thanked everyone for helping the appeal.

He was involved in a horrific collision near Frisby in December and was taken to Queen's Medical Centre by helicopter.

He said: "I sustained a number of severe injuries and had it not been for the air ambulance the outcome could have been much worse. I consider it to be a very important and valuable service and I am one of the people fortunate enough to have been rescued by them.

"They are wonderful people and it's a wonderful service. I am immensely grateful there was somebody there giving up their time for me."

And hero Chris Lawrence, from Long Clawson, who saved a 70-year-old women from drowning in an icy pool, has given his backing to the service.

He said: "The air ambulance was there when I climbed out of the water and it was a great reassurance to me. It is so important. I fully support the air ambulance appeal."

So let's finish this appeal with a bang and raise as much money as possible towards those life savers, the air ambulance.
